The Gap We Saw
The science on barefoot footwear wasn't new. For years, podiatrists, coaches, and movement researchers had been pointing to the same conclusion: the modern shoe, for all its engineering, had created a generation of feet that couldn't support themselves. Wide toe boxes, zero-drop soles, flexible outsoles — the prescription was clear. The market just hadn't caught up.
What was out there was a choice between function and form. Barefoot shoes that worked looked clinical or niche — fine for the enthusiast, not for anyone who wanted to wear the same shoe to the gym and out the door. And conventional sneakers, no matter how well-designed, were still built on the same compromises that created the problem in the first place.
